About
West Lothian has 4 multi-agency committees providing leadership across Adult Support and Protection, Child Protection, Violence Against Women & Girls and Offender Management (MAPPA). The Committees report to a Group of Chief Officers from the Council, Police Scotland and the NHS.
The Committees ensure that staff have up to date policies, procedures, guidance and training to ensure that they are equipped to work in partnership to protect those at risk of abuse and harm.
The Committees are also responsible for quality assurance and making sure that members of the public have access to relevant information and know who to contact if they have any concerns that a child or adult may at risk of harm.
The Committees are attended by senior managers from:
- Social Work;
- Police Scotland;
- NHS Lothian;
- Education;
- Housing; and
- The 3rd sector
Protecting adults and children at risk of harm is everyone's job - professionals and members of the community all have a role in ensuring children and adults are safe.
