Thursday 20th February was Adult Support and Protection Awareness Day. The theme for this years' awareness raising campaign was 'Financial Harm affecting Older Adults'.
Older Adults in particular, can be vulnerable to being harmed financially - sometimes by strangers or professional scammers, but also by people they know and trust.
A multi-agency learning event took place on 20th February and this included input from Police Scotland, Officer of the Public Guardian and the Department of Work and Pensions. There was also an opportunity to explore a case study - the McCulloch Learning Review from Highland which features in the "What we have been reading" section below.
The learning event was well attended but for those who were unable to attend on the day, input from guest speakers was recorded and we aim to edit this into individual clips which will be circulated.

Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) - Move to Universal Credit
With the migration of tax credits and legacy benefits to Universal Credit currently progressing, more households will be receiving letters inviting them to make a claim for Universal Credit.
The Department of Work and Pensions has developed a pack which is designed to aid organisations to support households who are required to move to Universal Credit from legacy benefits. This product has been written with our Stakeholder use in mind and, therefore, is not suitable for sharing with customers.
This information is available on gov.uk so is nothing new, however we have put it in to a shortened, easier format to help support those Move to Universal Credit conversations.
The NEST Website is aimed at providing information about resources and services for neurodivergent people in Ayrshire. We are highlighting it for its useful Learn Zone on the website which provides more general information about neurodiversity and how to support people who are neurodivergent.
