Dietetics and Nutrition

Dietetics and nutrition are based in Outpatient Department 1 at St John's Hospital in Howden, Livingston. We also offer services from health centres, and when necessary, we can make home visits.

We aim to:

  • Give advice on therapeutic diets to patients in the acute and primary care settings
  • Provide a specialist dietetic service to patients with medical conditions
  • See patients on a one to one basis
  • See patients in groups, for example, diabetes or weight management

Inpatients:

The inpatient dietetic team provide input to all inpatient wards and units within St John's Hospital, as well as Tippethill Hospital (Baillie Wing) and St Michael's Hospital.

Outpatients and Domiciliary (at home) Visits:

  • Malnutrition
  • Diabetes
  • Gastroenterology
  • Paediatrics

You can be referred to the service by your general practitioner (GP), hospital consultant or other health professional.
